Digong hindi takot sa imbestigasyon ng ICC

MANILA, Philippines – Dahil umano sa lumalaking bilang ng mga napapatay ng giyera kontra droga ay hindi natatakot si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa posibleng pagsisiyasat sa kanya ng International Criminal Court (ICC).

Ayon kay Duterte, hindi siya puwedeng kasuhan at imbestigahan ng ICC dahil lamang sa pagbabanta niya sa mga criminal dahil hindi ito labag sa batas ng Pilipinas.

“You must first determine that I have committed a crime in my country, that I have committed mass murders in my country and charged with that. There can be be no ramifications when I say that I will kill you when you destroy my land. It’ a legitimate statement of any general, of any wartime president, of any tribal leader,” wika pa ni Duterte sa panayam ng Al Jazeera.

Iginiit pa ng Pangulo, hindi labag sa batas ang pananakot sa mga suspected criminals na isang pamamaraan upang protektahan ang mga kabataan mula sa illegal drugs.

“If we do not interdict this problem, the next generation will be having a serious problem. You destroy my country, I’ll kill you. And it’s a legitimate thing. If you destroy our young children, I will kill you. That is a very correct statement. There is nothing wrong in trying to preserve the interest of the next generation,” paliwanag pa ni Duterte.

Magugunita na nagpahayag ng pagkabahala si ICC chief prosecutor Fatou Bensouda dahil sa tumataas na bilang ng mga napapatay sa giyera kontra droga ng gobyernong Duterte.

Inanyayahan na rin ni Duterte si UN special rapporteur Agnes Callamard na maggagawa ng imbestigasyon sa sinasabing extra judicial killings sa bansa sa gitna ng drug war ng gobyerno.
