MANILA, Philippines — Dahil sa patuloy na pagpupuslit ng mga siga­rilyo at vapes, pinakikilos na ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ang Bureau of Customs (BOC) at Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) na palakasin pa ang kanilang anti-smuggling campaign sa nasabing mga produkto.

Ginawa ni Marcos ang utos sa ikaanim na Private Sector Advisory Council-Agriculture Sector Group (PSAC-ASG) sa Palasyo ng Malakanyang. Iginiit niya na dapat na mapa­ngalagaan ang industriya ng tobacco sa bansa.

Kasabay nito, kinilala ni Pangulong Marcos ang pagsusumikap ng BOC at BIR sa kampanya kontra sa smuggling.

“Enforcement and anti-smuggling and all that. You really have to beef them up and I think we’re doing that. There will be [more efforts] with the Bureau of Customs and BIR so that we can improve performance with that regard,” pahayag ni Marcos.

Kaugnay nito, sinabi ni Special Assistant to the President on Economic and Economic Affairs Frederick Go na magtatalaga ang Department of Trade and Industry

Consumer Protection Group ng mga tauhan na magmo-monitor sa vape industry.

Sinabi naman ni BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr. kay Pangulong Marcos na pinaigting na ng Wpanya laban sa smuggling sa vape products at katunayan ay magpapatupad na sila ng tax stamp system para matukoy ang mga ipinagbabawal.
