Garbage men ask for donations

THE EAR - The Freeman

Trash talk? A man was approached one morning by people who claimed to be garbage collectors and asked for a Christmas "donation." The man told The EAR while he doesn't normally give in to such demands, his neighbors told him it was a standard practice in their neighborhood to give any small amount to garbage collectors when Christmas time nears.

The man said he wasn't sure if those garbage collectors worked for the barangay, or the city government, or if they were even garbage collectors at all. While he did give something, he said it still felt like extortion.

"Sa pagakangan na lang nga basurero sila, mora'g ilang pasabot pwede nila di agi-an akong basura kun di ko mohatag," he said.
