PBB evictee Jasmin Engracia: No regrets

-
Jasmin Engracia thought her frankness could help her sail through to the finals of Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Season Two.

Little did she know that her edgy personality would work to her disadvantage. To her surprise, she had to pack her bags before Holy Week.

"I’m shocked and sad," the Diskarte Queen reacts on how the housemates and the public voted two elimination nights ago. Recently, Zeke Dimaguila of Australia followed suit.

"I thought I was misunderstood," she continues. "I was true to myself and all my dealings inside the house."

In hindsight, Jasmin considers her three-week stay at Bahay ni Kuya an eye-opener.

"I learned to be sensitive to others," says the Davaoeña. "Be careful of what you say. If you do hurt other people’s feelings, they will not have second thoughts of putting you down."

Jasmin is also quick to admit that her high-pitched, commanding voice and snobbish aura also contributed to her early exit.

But what bothers her most is the haughty, arrogant image she has left on the public’s mind. That’s why if given another chance to return to and live inside the house, she would grab it to correct misconceptions about her. Jasmin will be wiser and cautious the next time around.

After PBB, life must go on for Jasmin. She is flying back to Davao to finish her rudely-interrupted nursing course. She also expects to receive her diploma this summer.

Before the reality TV show caught her attention, Jasmin was a student at the Mindanao Medical Foundation College in Davao City. Focused as she was on her studies, Jasmin never thought of joining showbusiness.

But she would also like to be in the limelight in a different way. Jasmin joined the Miss Zamboanga tilt and won the title. The tiara and the instant popularity that came with it, however, didn’t affect her relationship with others. She remains the straightforward, amiable Jasmin her friends and family have learned to love.

In fact, her participation in the pageant elicited oohs and aahs as Jasmin is not the typical fashionista.

Like "secret housemate" Mikah Dizon, Davao’s pride has no plans of following in the footsteps of PBB alumni Sam Milby, Say Alonzo, Uma Khouny, Nene Tamayo, Rico Robles, Jayson Gainza, Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson.

"At least I took the risk," says Jasmin. "In spite of everything, it was worth it."
