MANILA, Philippines — Anne Curtis, Iza Calzado, Jessy Mendiola and Venus Raj are among the actresses whose names surfaced on social media that could probably give life to the serpent queen enemy of Filipino super heroine Darna, to be played by Liza Soberano in the movie's remake in 2018.
Among those that portrayed the super villainess in the past were Iwa Moto, Alessandra de Rossi, Pilar Pilapil, Pilita Corrales, Cherie Gil and Celia Rodriguez.
Often compared to the mythological Medusa, Valentina has the ability to speak and control snakes, as well as morph into different forms. In the comic series by Filipino graphic novelist Mars Ravelo, Valentina has been depicted as born with snakes in her head, which makes her bitter so she wrecks havoc and tries to conquer and rule the world.
In movies and TV series, Valentina has also been pictured as always envious of Narda, the ordinary girl counterpart of Darna. Valentina tries to steal everything from Narda and Darna, most especially, the man Darna loves.
In the 2018 movie directed by Erik Matti, Darna's love interest will be played by Enrique Gil.
