Ai Ai apologizes to PNoy over issue with estranged husband

Chuck Smith - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Ai Ai delas Alas apologized to President Benigno Aquino III after it was rumored that the comedienne asked for his help over his marital problem with estranged husband Jed Salang.

“Humihingi ako ng paumanhin para sa sarili ko kasi nakakahiya naman sa Presidente. Nakakahiya sa Malacañang, na pati yung mga pangalan nila nadadawit sa domestic problem namin ng husband ko. Mali iyon,” she said in a taped interview with ABS-CBN’s showbiz talk show “The Buzz” on Sunday, September 20.

It was first rumored that Ai Ai was asking personal favors concerning her marital issues from the President days after the comedienne revealed she has separated from Salang. Ai Ai is a close friend of Kris Aquino, PNoy’s younger sister.

The 48-year-old star finds it funny that people would think PNoy would meddle with her love life. “Love life nga ni Friendship (Kris), hindi niya iniisip, love life ko pa ba,” Ai Ai said.

She added, “Ang dami ng problema ng Malacañang, ang dami ng problema ng ating Presidente, bakit pa naman ako dadagdag? Di ba naman, nakakatawa naman yun. Nakakatawang nakakaasar.”

In a recent interview with Philstar.com and other members of the press at the set of her sitcom “Toda Max,” Ai Ai said she’s not yet ready to enter a romantic relationship.

Ai Ai is part of the comedy film “Kung Fu Divas,” which also stars Kapuso star Marian Rivera. The film will premiere on Oct. 2.
