Class perspective? Netizens weigh in on Kris Aquino’s MRT experience

Chuck Smith - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - “What a memorable experience.”

This was how actress-TV host and Presidential sister Kris Aquino described her first time riding the Metro Rail (MRT) Transit.

Heavy traffic due to a sudden heavy downpour on Tuesday afternoon prompted the “Kris TV” host to take the MRT in order to get to a showbiz commitment on time.

Kris posted a photo of the bumper-to-bumper traffic in EDSA on Tuesday with the caption: “45 mins & we haven't moved. Parking lot level ang EDSA. Sorry Lucky Me Kainang Pamilya Short Film Awards.”

Kris added in another photo post: “We haven't moved, so trying to be creative & prayerful here in IG.”

An hour later, the Kapamilya star posted a photo of herself as she’s about to board and inside the MRT.

“Me on the MRT. Made it to the awarding ceremony... People were so NICE. What a memorable experience!” she said. A video of Kris during the MRT ride was also uploaded on the video sharing website, YouTube.

Kris isn’t the only celebrity to make the headlines for riding the MRT. Anne Curtis, Enchong Dee, and Julia Montes were reported to have taken the train system to avoid EDSA’s heavy traffic.

Online, Kris was both commended and criticized for making a spectacle of her MRT ride and calling it a “memorable experience.”

“Kris Aquino took the MRT because traffic was so bad. Maybe NOW her brother will hear about it and DO SOMETHING,” one Twitter user said.

Saranggani Representative Manny Pacquiao reportedly also took the MRT yesterday to attend a Christian gathering at the ABS-CBN Compound in Quezon City.
