CEBU, Philippines — Two popular female volleyball squads in the country will treat their Cebuano followers to a highly entertaining action as the Creamline Cool Smashers tangle with the Ateneo de Manila University Lady Blue Eagles in a two-day goodwill games on December 9-10 at the University of San Jose Recoletos-Basak campus gym.

Dubbed as ‘2017 Stars and Spikes Invitational Tournament’, the event is a fundraising event for the benefit of the Boot Senior Citizen’s Association. Creamline will also conduct a volleyball clinic for the selected 200 USJ-R students.

"We decided to bring this even there to lift up Cebu’s volleyball program. We also want the fans to witness and experience a quality live volleyball show,” said head organizer Dean Wong.

“This will also serve as a homecoming for Deanna Wong who was a former USJ-R varsity player before playing for Ateneo,” added Wong.

Creamline is undoubtedly one of the most popular teams in Premier Volleyball League (PVL) owing to the presence of former UAAP star Alyssa Valdez. Valdez will play alongside Jia Morado, Pau Soriano, Angeline Nunag Colleen Bravo ,Rose Vargas. Aerieal Patnongon, Jamela Suyat, Mary Jean Balse-Pabuyo, Jonalyn Ibisa, Francesca Racraquin, Ivy Remulla, Rizza Mandapat, and Alexine Cabaños.

Joining Wong in the Blue Eagles’ roster are team captain Isabel De Leon Katrina Tolentino, Pauline Gaston, Bettina Abella, Anna Laureen Gopico, Sydney Eleazar, Candice Gequillana, Jenelle Lo, Madeleine Madayag, Jhoana Maraguinot, Danielle Ravena, and Julianne Samonte.

Before the Creamline-ADMU showdown, teams from the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) will see action in the preliminaries.

Ticket prizes are pegged at P300 for upperbox, P350 for lowerbox and P400 for courtside. (FREEMAN)
