Dragons, Bulldogs stay perfect in USC-NABC hoop

CEBU, Philippines - The 1993 Dragons and the 1994 Bulldogs stretched their perfect starts to 6-0 in Division 1 of the 2017 University of San Carlos-North Alumni Basketball Conference (USC-NABC) Summer League 2 powered by Common Ground over the weekend at the USC-North Campus gymnasium.

Bong Eleazar unloaded 19 points, 12 rebounds and three assists, Jade Ylanan added 15 points, eight rebounds and three assists to power the Dragons past 1982 Dominique's Classic, 61-56, while James Lu and Juntar connived for 29 points, 19 rebounds, 10 assists and 11 steals as the Bulldogs obliterated the 1984 Knights, 92-53.

In the other Division 1 match, Edmund Odulio exploded for 42 points as the 1988 Barako escaped past the 1986 Waveriders, 73-70.

Alvin Tajanlangit chipped in with 15 points and 10 rebounds while Raul Monterroyo contributed 10 points, nine rebounds and five assists for the Barako, which now holds a 3-2 win-loss record.

On the other hand, Cromwel Po scattered 21 points on top of nine rebounds while Criz Matunog banged in 15 points  as the 1998 Sipat outlasted the 2000 Millennium Bugs, 71-65, to earn share of Division 2 lead with the 1999 Ninetyniners on identical 5-1 records.

The 1999ers notched their fifth win at the expense of the 1996 Chubbies, 73-58, thanks to the concerted efforts of Mark Capili, Joseph Bragat, Jess Minoza and Tope Osorio who conspired for 50 points, 28 rebounds and 13 assists.

In Division 3, Enrico Llanto fired 29 points, 10 rebounds and five assists as the 2002 Lions roared past the 2003 Stallions, 64-59 while Mike Rita had 21 points and five rebounds to rally the 2010 Pioneers past the 2004 Rebels, 50-48. The Pioneers evened their record to 3-3 while the Lions improved to 2-3. (FREEMAN)
