3 motorsport events set in Lapu-Lapu City

CEBU, Philippines - It’s a busy weekend for Motorsport enthusiasts as three events will be staged in Lapu-Lapu City beginning with the Lapu-Lapu City Open Motorcycle Race this Sunday at the M.L Quezon National Highway.

“Cebu has the best riders, but the sport itself is dying. We hope that we can sustain this make Lapu-lapu the motorcycle racing capital of the Philippines,” said event organizer Bryan Mallari of  the Mallari Racing Development.

This weekend’s action is a drag race-type which covers half a kilometer and with this, City Traffic Management System in-charge Mario Napoli said that they are partially closing the road near Bellavista Hotel to City Hall.

The race features 57mm superstock, 52 and 57mm multi-brand, scooter 160, Raider cam-gear and Raider 150 pure stock categories.

 Next to the Lapu-Lapu City Open Motorcycle Race will be the Mayor Paz C. Radaza-Suzuki One Make Race on December 17 followed by the Philippine Motorcycle Time Attack Finals on December 18 in front of the City Hall.

Mayor Paz C. Radaza-Suzuki Cup will be a circuit-type racing that include with 11 categories—one-make expert, intermediate, novice, ladies and beginners, Smash, Gixxer, Suzuki Owner’s Club, Nex, All-Lapu-Lapu and Club Race.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Motorcycle Time Attack Championship will have seven categories including the beginners, sports bike, scooter, backbone, above 300cc, ladies open and underbone. (FREEMAN)
