CEBU, Philippines - Cebuana triathlete Aaliyah Ricci Mataragnon gave the country another reason to celebrate as she won the silver medal in the New Moon khcycle MetaSports series in Singapore yesterday.

From a bronze medal finish last year, Mataragnon got a better placing at the female 14-15 class against other 26 entries.

Even if she is not 100% percent, Mataragnon finished the grueling race in 41 minutes and six seconds, behind the champion Zoe Natasha Bowden of Malaysia. Dayanee Kunaseelan came out third.

Meanwhile in Sta.Fe Bantayan Island, Lorhiz Echavez-Lopez and Kristiane Lim once again dominated their respective divisions in the Cebu Team Triathlon Championship Series.

After winning a title in NAGT last week in Danao, Lim emerged as the fastest in the men’s open with a 2:05:31 clocking over Emmanuel Comendador  (2:06:55) in the second place while Sherwin Managil place third.

In the distaff side, Echavez-Lopez brought home the crown after finishing the race with a time of 2:31:12, while Hannah Galo wound up second in 2:48:43 and Meg Stevens taking the third place in 2:49:47.

Jorry Ycong lorded it over the category A beating Lorhiz’s husband Mendel Lopez.

Marlo Galon led the cast of top finishers after ruling the category B. The rest of the top performers were Remedios Martinez in the women’s category A, Mirian Joy Libre and Robert Paul Martinez in the category D, while Stefan Lee won the class C.
