Piramide leaves Talisay City administrator post

Iris Mariani B. Algabre - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A month into the job, lawyer Aven Piramide has resigned as Talisay City administrator to concentrate on his obligations with the University of Visayas College of Law.

Talisay City Mayor Eduardo Gullas said yesterday it was Piramide’s decision to vacate the post so he can focus on being the university’s associate dean and director of bar operations.

“Ako siya giingnan nga dako siya’g chances nga ang atong mga honor students sa College of Law.(I told him that) if you really can take care of them, they will have a chance to become first ten placers sa bar exams,” Gullas said.

He said Piramide decided to concentrate on his duties at the university since UV is producing excellent students.

Gullas said he will not choose a replacement for Piramide, confident that he can do his job without a city administrator.

“I’ll do it myself, the whole time,” he said.

Not having a city administrator is not new to Gullas, as he also did not have one during his term as Talisay City mayor in 2001 to 2004.

Besides, he said, even if Piramide resigned, he can still consult him, especially on legal matters.

“He’s very open sa advices.  Although naa na koy consultant, I still consult him, being an associate dean and active in practice,” Gullas said.

He praised Piramide for having already contributed beautiful ideas for the betterment of Talisay, like the setting up of a building that would serve as temporary shelter of residents affected by calamities like typhoon, landslide, or fire.

“Despite the fact he has been (city administrator) only for one month, iya ng idea ang mo-put up sa building in case of disaster.  He called it ‘sanctuary’,” Gullas said. (FREEMAN)
