Woman stabbed by own husband

CEBU, Philippines - A 47-year-old woman was stabbed by her husband after a fight over financial issues in Sitio Soong Center, Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City Saturday afternoon.

Fe Escorel sustained wounds on her abdomen after Juvener, her husband, stabbed her with a bladed weapon, said Police Officer 3 Lydo Pinos, desk officer of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office- Homicide Section.

Initial investigation revealed that Fe confronted her husband, who was drunk at that time, over the mismanagement of their money.

However, her husband got angry at her and stabbed her with a sharp weapon intended for a cockfight activity.

Pinos said that Fe was immediately rushed to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital by her other relatives. She was later transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

Juvener, on the other hand, evaded arrest and immediately fled after the incideent.

Police said the victim was mad because of her husband's involvement in cockfighting activities and that all their money was mostly spent for the game.

Pinos said they are conducting a follow-up operation to locate the suspect. (FREEMAN)
