Fast ferry company expands fleet
CEBU, Philippines - Barely a month after its sister ship was launched, SuperCat by 2Go Travel unveils another sea angel to its fleet, the M/V St. Sariel, to sail the Cebu-Tagbilaran route.
The new 300-seater high-speed fast ferry was built by global shipbuilder Austal Limited (Austal) along with M/V St. Camael, which was launched by SuperCat last month.
Both ships were completed at the Austal Philippines shipyard in Balamban, Cebu under a A$13 million contract signed by the two firms in June 2016 for the construction of two Incat Crowther designed catamarans.
Aptly dubbed as ‘sea angels’ by SuperCat, the identical ships are capable of ferrying 300 passengers at speeds beyond 25 knots.
SuperCat general manager Lito M. Salvio takes pride of the ships as purely Philippine-made and a testament to Filipino craftsmanship having been built by Filipino engineers and workers.
The shipping firm now has eight vessels in its fleet serving the ports of Batangas, Calapan, Bacolod, Iloilo, Cebu, Tagbilaran and Ormoc. (FREEMAN)
