CEBU, Philippines - A Korean TV home shopping company is slowly gaining ground in Cebu giving consumers another buying option as the virtual retail market expands.

One Plus Shop TV, which airs in Skycable Channel 31 and TV5, is the first TV shopping company in Cebu targeting Visayan shoppers.

Owned by Yung Sik Bae, the company’s head office is located in Korea but they have a Cebu office located in Mandaue City and is now a member of the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The company’s product ranges from kitchen wares, cosmetics and beauty products, health and fitness, fashion, among others.

Barely a year in Cebu, the company is currently manned by 19 employees composed of field sales executives and telemarketers.

To further introduce this latest retail trend to Cebuanos, One Plus Shop TV recently launched a Salez Blitz Extravaganza, wherein sales executives bring One Plus Shop’s products to company offices and allow employees to avail of their products through a lay-away plan or salary deduction.

One Plus Shop sales executive Joan Mahipos said,”when we display our products in a certain company, we negotiate with the company if they would allow their employees to buy our products on a salary deduction agreement or through a three-month lay-away plan.”

She added that they usually ask for permission from a company if they could display their products in their office for 1-3 days.

Mahipos said that what makes their products attractive to their target market is the durability and affordability. More than that, they also offer free delivery within Metro Cebu.

Apart from tapping offices, One Plus Shop TV’s telemarketers are also upbeat, getting around five orders in each shift. Telemarketers’ shift is from 6AM to 2PM and another shift from 2PM to 10PM.

Each telemarketer has a quota of P6,000 each day, Mahipos said the quota is very attainable for the telemarketers because of the many inquiries and actual sales that they get everyday adding that the company earns an average of P25,000 to P130,000 a day.

Cris Mepico of One Plus Shop also said in a phone interview that their partnership with TV5 and SkyCable since October has greatly helped boost their sales.

Moreover, since it is now the time of the year when mid-year bonuses are released, the company is stepping up its presence in company offices.

On the other hand, the company is set to open SnowKing today in the Pacific Mall. They will also open outlets in J Centre Mall and Elizabeth mall soon. (FREEMAN)
