Aboitiz Construction exploring business opportunities in China

MANILA, Philippines — Aboitiz Construction Inc. (ACI), the privately-held construction arm of the Aboitiz Group, is targeting to explore business opportunities in China.

It recently visited two large companies in China in its efforts to explore further business opportunities overseas – Shandong Electric Power Construction Corporation III (SEPCO3) and Dongfang Electric Company (DEC).

SEPCO3 is a Chinese construction and engineering company that designs, builds, operates and owns power plants. Specifically, the company offers construction of power plants through the EPC (engineering, procurement, construction) method on a turnkey lump sum basis.

Moreover, SEPCO3 also develops power plant projects through the BOT (build-operate-transfer) and BOO(T) build-operate-own
(-transfer) methods.

The other company, DEC is one of the most influential enterprise groups under the direct administration of the Chinese central government. It has become a comprehensive group specializing in the manufacturing industry, research and development of cutting-edge technology, contracting international engineering projects, exporting complete plants and equipment, and conducting international economic and technical cooperation.

ACI chairman Jaime Jose Aboitiz led the visit, which aimed to strengthen the firms’ interest to partner with the company, specifically for power and other infrastructure projects in the Philippines under the Build Build Build Program of the government.

“At home or abroad, ACI will continue to pursue opportunities that will allow us to advance business and communities through our various projects, as well as put us on track to being the contractor of choice by completing projects on time, on budget, safely, and within specifications,” Aboitiz said.

The visit has resulted in offers for partnership from both companies.

ACI is one of the most reliable and respected industrial contractors in the Philippines. It is one of the few Philippine contractors with a very wide range of experience in major engineering & construction projects.

It is capable of doing work from conceptualization to execution and commissioning, from earth moving to marine structures, from petrochemical to world-class resorts, from warehouses to office buildings and more.

The company has a regular workforce of over 600 engineers, technicians and administrative professionals supported by a ready pool of over 5,000 skilled personnel.

Workforce is continuously built through partnerships with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, schools and skills training centers, as well as various barangays through mobile skills training.
