China carriers launching more flights from Cebu
MANILA, Philippines — Three Chinese carriers are launching flights to China from Cebu later this month to promote greater connectivity.
In a statement yesterday, GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corp. (GMCAC) said China Eastern Airlines and Juneyao Airlines are set to commence flights to the Shanghai Pudong International Airport from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) this month.
In particular, China Eastern will have seven flights per week in its first run from Oct. 18 to 28.
After the first run, China Eastern will resume operations on Jan.18, 2018.
Juneyao Airlines, meanwhile, will begin offering its thrice per week flights to Shanghai on Oct. 30.
Aside from the two airlines, GMCAC said Okay Airways is also set to start thrice per week flights to China’s historic city Xi’an on Oct. 30.
Juneyao Airlines and Okay Airways are the newest Chinese carriers to operate flights at the MCIA.
With the opening of new flights by the Chinese carriers, MCIA will be serving 18 international destinations and 35 domestic points by the end of the month.
GMCAC said the number is expected to even increase with new routes to Beijing and Bangkok set to open in the next two months.
“Promoting the province and its surrounding areas to other Asian countries, especially China, is among our highest priorities,” GMCAC president Louie Ferrer said.
