Tabunok market contractor to proceed with 2nd phase

CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City government awarded to Tuanson Construction the second phase of the new Tabunok Public Market.

The construction firm also won the first phase of the project with P50 million contract price. Tuanson bested the three other bidders having the lowest responsive bid of about P98 million.

Talisay City budget officer Edgar Mabunay said Tuanson has the actual bid price of P97,922,838. Mabunay said that Tuanson is qualified having completed similar projects in the past. It has also available equipment to do the project.

The second phase of the project covers the building for fish, meat, dry goods and vegetable section including the elevated parking lot.

"Responsive iyang bid, anytime soon, they can start the construction since they already had the notice of award last Monday," Mabunay said.

Based on the project calendar, it is expected to be completed within 270 days. Mabunay said that the third phase which will cover the sewage treatment facility will come next.

Mabunay and his team left for Manila yesterday to inspect a similar project in Las Piñas City. The third phase will be done by I.M. Bongar Co. Inc which was declared lowest bidder with P11 million. The third phase has an approved budget of P15 million. (FREEMAN)
