Peso falls by 4.2 centavos midday Wednesday

MANILA, Philippines - The peso sunk by 4.2 centavos against the dollar midday Wednesday, settling at 44.789 from the previous day's 44.747.

Total volume transacted at the Philippine Dealing System amounted to $182 million in the morning, lower than the $295.3 million posted the same period on Tuesday.

The peso opened midweek at 44.8.
