Commercial flights to resume in Zamboanga
MANILA, Philippines - Department of Local and Interior Government Secretary Mar Roxas II and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Director-General William Hotchkiss are studying the possibility of resuming daily commercial flights at the Zamboanga International Airport on Thursday.
Roxas said there will be two flights on Thursday once the resumption of flights push through, adding that more in-bound and out-bound flights will be scheduled once flight schedules return to normal.
Flights to and from Zamboanga City were canceled last week after members of the Moro National Liberation Front attacked the southern city, prompting suspension of classes and government work. CAAP cited security reasons for closing the airport.
Roxas said stranded passengers including those with expired tickets should contact airline companies for processing.
He added that passengers should bring valid identification cards in processing as strict security measures are in place.
