Pinoy chef wins 2nd place in Korea cooking contest

MANILA, Philippines - A Filipino chef placed second at the 2014 Global "Taste of Korea" Contest last September 30.

Marc Justin Tee won $3,000 after competing with representatives from Australia, Belgium, Chile, China, Egypt, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Slovakia, South Africa, United Kingdom and United States.

The cooking competition aims to introduce and promote Korean food to the international market.

“Korean cuisine is so good, it’s not difficult to promote it. In fact, it’s already becoming the next big thing in the Korean wave of culture," Philippine Ambassador to South Korea Raul Hernandez said after congratulating Tee.

The Filipino chef was chosen to represent the country after topping the preliminary round in the Philippines last June 27.
