DILG-Cebu City gets new chief

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  The Department of Interior and Local Government has named Dr. Neila Aquino as its officer-in-charge for Cebu City beginning May 23.

This is after DILG city director, lawyer Ian Kenneth Lucero, was reassigned to the DILG-Cebu Province.

Lucero already turned over the symbolic key of responsibility to Aquino in a simple, yet, meaningful turnover ceremony last Thursday.

The activity was graced by DILG-7 Director Leocadio Trovela, Lapu-Lapu City Director Jonah Pino, LGMED Chief Celerino Magto Jr., and personnel of DILG-Cebu Province, DILG regional office, and DILG-Cebu City.

Lucero thanked Trovela for the trust, confidence, and support to him and DILG-Cebu City. He also thanked personnel of DILG-Cebu City, stressing that he could not implement his initiatives without their assistance and commitment.

Trovela in return commended the camaraderie of DILG-Cebu City and expressed his hopes that the team will continue the same kind of support it extended to Lucero to Aquino.

Part of the activity was the presentation of accomplishments, initiatives, and feats of DILG-Cebu City under the leadership of Lucero.

Aquino vowed to continue the initiatives of Lucero with the help of all personnel of DILG Cebu City in return for the trust and confidence given to her.

Aside from Aquino, Michael Eltanal was also named the new DILG-Cebu City cluster head.

Yesterday, Lucero took the time out to thank key officials of the City Hall and introduced Aquino to them.

Lucero also introduced Aquino to Liga ng mga Barangay-Cebu City chapter president Franklyn Ong yesterday.

During the courtesy visit, Lucero accordingly also thanked Ong for the cooperation of the 80 barangays of the city through the LnB in all the programs and activities of DILG.

Both Lucero and Aquino also paid courtesy visits to Vice Mayor Donaldo Hontiveros and Vice Mayor-elect Raymond Alvin Garcia earlier and are expected to meet Mayor Michael Rama next week. — Decemay P. Padilla, GMR (FREEMAN)
