CEBU, Philippines —  The Cebu City government’s vaccination operation center met its target of inoculating all city jail inmates this week.

It only took four days to vaccinate a total of 7,200 inmates from the male and female dormitories, Dr. Jeffrey Ibones, head of the City Health Department, told The FREEMAN yesterday.

Ibones said, except for the first day, the rest of the days went smoothly.

During the first day, they were able to inoculate 966 inmates in the male dormitory.

Those in the female dormitory got their COVID-19 vaccines yesterday. There were around 900 of them, said Ibones.

A separate team inoculated the male and female dormitory yesterday to hasten the inoculation.

The city government included inmates to avoid another transmission of the virus it had last year. So far, there were over a hundred inmates that got infected with COVID-19 already.

After BJMP, the city’s vaccination team is set at inoculating those under the Operation Second Chance.

However, Ibones said, they are yet to seek legal advice on this as they are minors. — KQD (FREEMAN)
