Osmeña wants SEC office established in Bacolod

CEBU, Philippines - Senator Sergio Osmeña III is now pushing for the establishment of the Securities and Exchange Commission office in Bacolod City.

Osmeña sponsored House Bill 2360 seeking to create an SEC office in Bacolod City to decongest business application registration at the Iloilo office.

If the bill is enacted, then Bacolod City will be the 9th city in the country to put up an SEC office, according to Osmeña, chair of the Senate committee on banks, financial institutions and currencies.

Other SEC offices are in the cities of Cebu, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Zamboanga, Iloilo, Legazpi, Tarlac, and Baguio.

The Iloilo office processes 15,760 business registration applications, close to 7,000 of which are from Negros Occidental. —Marchel P. Espina (FREEMAN)
