Game-changing moment    

Every election, as in the past, is regarded as a pivotal point. However, we cannot be overly positive since we do not know who will lead us. Are they truly committed to realizing our hopes and dreams over the next six years? We've already identified candidates who we believe can help us in achieving our objectives. If they lose, however, we anticipate the exact opposite will happen. For the time being, we are not considering this scenario. When we accept that everything is possible, we must ponder what if and what then.

Because we do not want a repeat of the ineffective past, which would prevent us from reaching our ideal future, the May election is a game changer. How much longer can we bear the repercussions of corruption, incompetence, and extravagance? When will the light at the end of the tunnel become visible? Will we be able to enjoy the fruits of our labors throughout our lifetimes, or will we have to wait until our children's children?

At the time, we had checked and knew our precinct numbers. Such demonstrations of excitement sate our desire to exercise our right. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to feel at par with the rest of the Filipinos, regardless of social status, religious beliefs, or political affiliations. On May 9, office executives, managers, frontline workers, farmers, fishermen, and all those on the margins will cast ballots. Our votes will level the playing field.

It is now up to us to decide whether or not we will take this political exercise seriously, since we do not want our children to go through what we have gone through. We foresee a generational progression as we harvest the marvel from one administration to the next.

We see the election, like we have in the past, as a game changer that will hopefully lead to a new horizon of development and prosperity. We cannot afford to be dormant. We should make progress toward our objectives. And it will start with the election of our leaders.

Come election day, we'll all be game changers, changing things in a major, crucial way. We are the trailblazers who we admire, learn from, and are motivated by.

Our right to vote, however limited, is ours. It's documented in suffrage and anti-suffrage legislation history. It serves as a link between our government and the people. This is how our democracy works; those socially-detached pairs of residents waiting their turn at the precinct ballot drop box, those who will pose for selfies with masks on and inked fingers, proudly posting on their social media profiles "I voted!" It is our obligation to keep it alive.

So, when we've reached the bottom of our lives, it's time to summon all of our courage and change the game by making a major life shift. We've arrived to modify the rules of the game. It makes no difference how big or small it is. We have a purpose and many gifts to share with the world.
