Why I will vote for Pacman

READER’S VIEWS - The Freeman

If elections were held today I would vote Pacquaio for president! Why? Because he is the only one who can lead this nation right. He builds his name and riches through sweat, blood, and humility. There’s no other boxer as humble but committed as Pacquiao and that’s why when he fights the whole nation stops. Some say he needs to learn more, yes, maybe to learn how be professionally corrupt.

Zero benefits

in the drug war

“Zero benefits — we have lost most in this fake drug war and justice must be served,” kin of government’s sham drug-war say

Rise Up for Life and for Rights, a network of families and advocates of President Duterte’s War on Drugs (WoD), slammed the President’s recent claim that the Filipino people benefitted the most from his WoD and that he and his family even face threats of reprisals from drug lords.

“What a barefaced lie – we have lost most in this sham WoD when state forces killed our loved ones, most of whom were breadwinners in our families. We have not benefitted from these killings, and neither have the rest of the country. Who gains from killing the poor?” said Nanay Llore Pasco, mother of two victims of Duterte’s War on Drugs.

In similar, expressed frustration, Nanay Christine Pascual, the mother of Joshua Laxamana, a young man killed in Pangasinan said, “the business of funeral services grew because of the WoD. Funeral service owners certainly benefitted from Duterte’s kill, kill, kill project. It never benefitted me, nor the Filipino people. I have lost a son, you call that a benefit?”

“Similar to his State-of the-Nation Address, the President is obviously afraid with the high probability of an International Criminal Court investigation and prosecution for his crimes against humanity, so much so that his lame defenses continue. During last Monday’s presidential address to the people, not a single reference was made to assure the public of much-needed economic support for the thousands who stand to lose their means of livelihood, under the impending hard lockdown in Metro Manila,” said Rubylin Litao, Rise Up Coordinator.

Duterte, instead, proffered incoherent ramblings on supposed benefits of the WoD, even incredulously painting that he and his family are vulnerable to reprisals. He and his sycophants have all the resources of the State, including its armed agents, which have been used in killing the poor.

“We are resolute in seeking justice for the victims of Duterte’s fake drug war, no matter how long it takes. The president must be held accountable for these killings and we look forward to an ICC prosecution. In the meantime, we must work diligently to fight all efforts of the president to remain in power or have his proxy assume the presidency to shield him from prosecution,” said Litao.

“The Filipino people will benefit from a Duterte-free 2022, or earlier,” the network stressed.
