In 1916, Cebuanos migrated to the Davao Region upon the appointment of the then municipal president of Argao, Antonio Minoza, as deputy governor of the Department of Mindanao and Sulu. In Argao alone, 31,000 transferred their residence to Davao and became the forerunners of what is Davao now.
