CCCI fetes power firm for CSR efforts

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry  awarded Global Business Power Corporation  for its fervent commitment to corporate social responsibility.

Recognizing the importance of CSR to every business organization, CCCI cited GBP’s “unwavering support, partnership, and invaluable contribution” to the Chamber’s various CSR-related advocacies and programs.

The award was received by GBP’s Vice President for Commercial Operations, Engr. Crispin Lamayan  during the CCCI General Membership Meeting and Turnover Ceremonies last May 16  at the City Sports Club Cebu.

Delivering more than just light, GBP is committed to make a difference in the community where it operates through its regular CSR programs in the areas of health, environment and education.

As part of its CSR commitment, GBP also gives immediate response to disasters and calamities. After the 7.2-magnitude earthquake that happened October 15 last year, GBP subsidiaries Cebu Energy Development Corporation and Toledo Power Company provided relief assistance to 1,500 affected families in Cebu  and went to Bohol on October 18 and 19 to personally deliver another 1,500 relief assistance to affected families on Tubigon, Clarin, Sagbayan, Catigbi-an, Calape, and Loon.

When super typhoon Yolanda ravaged the country,  GBP immediately organized another set of relief operations in Northern Panay and Northern Cebu, in coordination with the local electric cooperatives. A total of 5,200 relief bags were distributed to New Washington and Lezo in Aklan; Sara and Bingawan in Iloilo; Panit-an and Roxas City in Capiz; San Remigio, Medellin, and Daanbantayan in Cebu.

GBP is one of the leading independent power generators in the Visayas region with power plants in Cebu, Iloilo, Aklan and Oriental Mindoro.  It is a member of the Metrobank Group of Companies. (FREEMAN)
