Panagtagbo fest to push through

CEBU, Philippines -  The Panagtagbo Festival in Mandaue City will push through today despite financial constraints and lack of preparation.

If last year had a street dancing competition, this year only a dance offering to the “Blessed Holy Family” will be held at the city hall ground.

The Panagtagbo dance offering will start after the procession and mass at the National Shrine of St. Joseph.

The Sinulog sa Kabataan 2014 2nd placer, the contingent from Mandaue City Central School, will perform the dance.

Editha Cortes, an official of the Taga Mandaue Inc. organizer of the Panagtagbo Festival, said this year’s festival is partly affected by past calamities.

But the usual parallel activities of the Panagtagbo Festival like the “Bibingkahan, Bazaar, photo contest, Panagtagbo dance offering and image display will still be there.

The Bibingkahan and the Bazaar will be put up at the Heritage Plaza while the image display which was previously erected at the Park Mall will now be at the Insular Square Mall in barangay Basak, Mandaue City to give opportunities to other malls.

Other activities today will include a concert, fireworks display, and a Balikbayan night at the city hall grounds.

The Panagtagbo Festival was launched in 2008.  (FREEMAN)
