Rice trader shot dead

CEBU, Philippines - One of  two men on a motorcycle shot dead a rice trader Wednesday evening in barangay Poblacion, Danao City.

Killed was Reynaldo Lindayag, 55, of Calvary Hills, Tuburan Sur, Danao City. He sustained two gunshot wounds on the body.

The police have yet to determine the motive for the killing, having ruled out robbery for the reason that the two men left without taking Lindayag’s P28,000 and valuables.

Lindayag was declared dead at the Danao Provincial Hospital.

PO3 Marlon Remollo said the trader had just emerged from his store at the public market and had taken a “trisikad” when killed at past 7:00 p.m. by one of two men riding in pillion. The motorcycle  lacked a plate number.

A witness described the gunman to be about 5’5” tall, medium built, and sporting a mustache.

The driver was estimated to be 5’5” tall, fair in complexion, and showing off clean-cut hair.

â€œSa pamilya sad wala sila’y nahuna-hunaan nga kontra kay buotan man kaayo ning tawhana kuno,” he said.

The Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) is now assisting the Danao City police in the investigation.  (FREEMAN)
