Mandaue introduces fees for dental, family planning services

CEBU, Philippines - Unlike before, the Mandaue City Hospital will now charge a minimal fee for family planning and dental services to subsidize the cost of materials and maintenance services.

Family planning and dental services were offered for free starting January this year.

City Councilor Nenita Ceniza-Layese had drafted an ordinance which sought fees for such services.

“The board has recommended the imposition of these minimal fees that would in effect, subsidize the cost of materials and maintenance of hospital operations especially on these new medical services,” City Councilor Nenita Ceniza-Layese said.

The fees imposed were based on the suggestion of the Local Health Board Resolution Number 10-2013 which was dated May 20, according to Ceniza-Layese.

Ceniza-Layese said the fees can maintain the facilities used from the hospital.

Without the ordinance, Ceniza-Layese said the fees suggested by the health board can’t be implemented.

Under the approved ordinance mild tooth cleaning will be charged P75, severe tooth cleaning P100, tooth extraction P75 per tooth, and x-ray P100.

For family planning registration is P10, consultation P50, IUD insertion P50, and pap smear P300. (FREEMAN)
