BSA NY teams shine in BBallshootout AAU Winter Classic tourney

CEBU, Philippines —  The young and promising cagers of Basketball Sports Alliance (BSA) New York shined brightly in the Bballshootout Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Youth Winter Classic Tournament recently at the Newark Academy in Livingston, New Jersey.

BBallshootout runs the biggest and best basketball tournaments in New Jersey. It strives to provide the most competitive and fun experience for all participants.

The BSA NY teams made the most out of the opportunity after reaching the qualifying rounds and eventually the championship in their respective age groups.

In the end, BSA NY was crowned champion in the 14 Under category. They spiced it up with two first runner-up trophies in the 10 Under and 13 Under divisions.

The budding BSA NY hardcourt warriors are under the guidance of coaches Elmer Remon, Victor Villegas, and Dr. Michael Kerin together with Cebuano coaches Ruel Gomez, Bembem Alcaraz, and Eugene Tampus.

Remon, who calls the shots for the 10 Under ballers, is the overall head of BSA NY sports program, while Dr. Kerin, the man in charge of their 15 Under girls squad, is currently the president of BSA NY.

A non-profit organization established by Remon and Villegas in 2012, BSA NY aims to train, teach and coach Filipino-American kids and teenagers especially those who want to join collegiate varsity teams to further hone their hoops skills and prepare them for various tournaments. It also envisions to educate, empower, and develop aspiring ballers to become good and confident persons. — EBV
