Aspiring Cebuano triathletes steal show in Ironkids
CEBU, Philippines — The young but promising Cebuano triathletes caught part of the spotlight after raking in several honors in the Ironkids Philippines at the Megaworld’s sprawling Mactan Newtown in Lapu-Lapu City yesterday.
Christy Ann Perez of Go For Gold-TLTG topped the girls 11-12 age group with a time of 29 minutes and six seconds. Tacloban’s Yvaine Osias and Ormoc’s Fritzie Surima settled for second and third with 29:14 and 30:26 clockings, respectively.
Another Go for Gold-TLTG bet in Carreon Paulter Canas wound up second in the boys 13-14 won by Olongapo’s Darell Johnson Bada with a time of 33:22. Canas crossed the finish line in 34:08 followed by Connor Hodges in 35:13.
Team Carcar also stole the show by sweeping the top three spots in boys 9-10 behind the efforts of Joshua Emmanuel Marquez (35:14), Earl Pearson (35:37) and Cedric Faltmeyer Encabo (37:29).
Marquez’s sister Isabela Grace bagged silver medal in the girls 6-8 division with a time of 20:46. Ormoc’s Mitch Raine Salva (17:57) and Hyacinth Jess Samputon (20:50) grabbed the first and third place honors.
On the other hand, Al Dustin Bersabal of Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu-Go4Less claimed bronze medal in the boys 11-12 won by Peter Sancho Del Rosario (26:36) followed by Ormoc’s Edel Royeras (28:43).
The other individual winners were Mindanao’s Izak Cael Avanzado (boys 6-8,16:05), Ormoc’s Lauren Lee Tan (girls 9-10, 27:59), and Olongapo’s Adrian Ungos (girls 13-14, 38:23).
