CEBU, Philippines — Those who desire to become part of the elite University of the Visayas (UV) men’s basketball team will have a chance to do so.
This after head coach Gary Cortes announced that the UV Green Lancers will hold an open tryouts at the Barangay San Roque Sports Complex in Cebu City, just a stone’s throw away from the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral.
Cortes, both a champion player and coach of the UV Lancers, will oversee the proceedings for college aspirants scheduled from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on August 8-10.
Then on August 11-12 at the same time and venue, it’s the turn of high school coach Ronald Bucao to conduct a similar activity in an effort to scout for potentials who are interested in joining the Baby Lancers.
The series of tryouts is UV’s first step towards its massive buildup for the highly anticipated 2022 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) cage wars set to kick off next month at the Cebu Coliseum. — EBV
