P26T at stake in 2nd ‘Stay at Home’ online chessfest

CEBU, Philippines —  A total of P26,000 in cash prize is up for grabs in the 2nd Stay at Home Online Chess Challenge to be played on May 16 at chess.com. Game time starts at 5 pm.

International Master Kim Steven Yap of the organizing Cebu School of Chess said the 15-round Swiss system competition is open only to Cebuanos and Cebu-based players.

Match-fixing, use of chess engine, and account piloting are strictly prohibited. Players caught cheating will be banned in all Salon de Rose events in the future.

The champion will pocket P3,000 while the second to fifth placers will receive P2,500, P2,000, P1,500, and P1,000, respectively. The sixth to 10th will have P500 each while the 11th to 20th finishers get P400.

The top female and kiddie players will both claim a P1,000 incentive while the top senior (55-above) will receive P400.

Entry fee is P100 for those who will register on or before May 14. Late registrants will be assessed with P200.
