CEBU, Philippines — Catmon reaffirmed its mastery over Sogod to rule cluster VI of the 2019 Governor Gwen Garcia Unity Volleyball (GUV) Cup over the weekend.
Catmon and San Francisco (Camotes Island) barged into the crossover semifinals as top seeds in their respective brackets with a perfect 3-0 records.
In the last round of four, Catmon handily beat Poro, 25-7, 25-10, while Sogod made it to the cluster final after escaping past SanFran in a three-set thriller, 25-20, 24-26, 25-18.
In the lopsided championship match, Catmon spared no mercy in its 25-6, 25-8 demolition of the hapless Sogod side.
Despite the loss though, Sogod will still be joinining Catmon in the quarterfinals of the province-wide tournament organized by the Cebu Volleyball Association (CEVA) next month.
