USJ-R booters on a roll, down defending champ SHS-Ateneo
CEBU, Philippines — The University San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) booters pulled off a 3-2 squaker over the defending champion Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) in the secondary boys football event of the 19th Cebu Schools Athletic Federation, Inc (CESAFI) season at the Cebu City Sports Center yesterday.
USJ-R’s Vincent Tejas broke the ice of the match at the 16th but Christopher Osawa dropped back-to-back goals at the 36th and 68th to push SHS-AdC on top, 2-1.
However, Tejas found the back of the net again to equalize the count, 2-2, at the 76th.
It was Christian Agot who sealed USJ-R’s hairline victory, its third straight to stay on top of the leaderboard.
SHS-AdC, on the other hand, suffered its second loss in three games.
Before bowing to USJ-R, SHS-ADC also feel prey to the University of San Carlos, 0-1.
USC made it two wins in a row at the expense of the Sisters of Mary School (SMS)-Boystown, 2-1.
The Boystowners actualy nailed the first goal of the matych courtesy of Joshua Cathedral at the 56th but Jascha Tabar fired back-to-back goals at 57th and 73rd to seal the deal for the Carolinians. (FREEMAN)
