Goats, Chubbies, Wave Riders remain unbeaten

CEBU, Philippines — The 2002 Goats, 1996 Chubbies and 1986 Siargao Wave Riders bested separate foes to keep their unbeaten records intact in the University of San Carlos-North Alumni Basketball Conference (USC-NABC) Cebu City Mayor’s Cup 2019 over the weekend at the USC-North Campus gym.

Andrei Ynclino chalked up 27 points on top of six rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block as the Goats downed the 2000 Millenium Bugs, 69-61, for their fourth straight win in as many starts. The Bugs dropped to 2-2.

The Chubbies, on the other hand, outlasted the 1994 Bulldogs, 67-57, to stretch their hot streak to 3-0.

Emmanuel Llenos scored 12 and pulled down nine boards for the Chubbies, who handed the Bulldogs their third loss in four matches.

Not to be outdone, Arturo Mata sizzled with 23 points, nine assists, seven rebounds and six steals as the Wave Riders coasted to their third consecutive victory with a 63-39 trouncing of Bai 1991.

In the other games, Miguel Peras had 12 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals as the 2003 Stallions pounded  the 2002 Lions, 62-37, to raise their record to 3-1, while Criz Matunog tallied 20 markers laced with six rebounds as the 1998 Sipat pummeled the 1992 Little Rascals, 76-54, for their second win in three games.
