Marino posts win No.2; Pulpogan teams march into Alegado Cup finals

CEBU, Philippines —  Ryan Chavez erupted for 31 points and John Lloyd Pepito added 24 as Team Marino rolled past Amicis, 101-94, for its second win in the open category of the 10th Mayor Alegado Cup Inter-Barangay Fiesta Basketball League in Consolacion.

Emmanuel Villamor finished with 17 points while Randy Colonia chipped in 12 markers as Marino of team owner Engr. Stanley Robinta stayed at third place in the standings with a 2-1 win-loss record behind the 3-0 David Justin and the 3-1 PB Corporation.

After a 25-all deadlock at the end of the first period, Marino staged a searing 29-16 run to carve out a 13-point edge at halftime, 54-41. Marino sustained its momentum the rest of the way to walk away with an seven-point triumph.

Lemar Dahil unloaded 39 points and Jessie Bathan scored 20 but their efforts went for naught as Amicis suffered its second loss in three starts.

Meanwhile, teams from Pulpogan booked tickets to the finals in their respective divisions.

In midgets category A, Rovello Robles fired 24 points while Prince Arnold Soquino had 21 points as Pulpogan booted out Poblacion Oriental, 83-65.

Pulpogan will face either Tayud or Jugan in next week’s championship.

Not to be outdone, John Paul Dalumpines scattered 24 points and Raymundo Osabel banged in 14 markers as Pulpogan wiped out Tugbongan, 98-70, to reach the championship stage in SK juniors category A.

Pulpogan will dispute the title against the winner of the other semifinal duel between Tayud and Casili. - EBV
