P1 million at stake in first IPI Wellness Run

CEBU, Philippines — A whooping P1, 000,000 in cold cash is at stake for the top performers of the International Pharmaceuticals, Inc’s ‘Wellness Run’ slated on May 5.

The race, which is in line with IPI’s 60th anniversary celebration, features 500m, 3K, 6K, 12K and 21K categories.

Aside from the prize money, IPI’s Paul Jake Castillo, who is also a celebrity triathlete, promised to make the event race an extraordinary event.

One of IPI’s third generation owner, celebrity and triathlete Paul Jake Castillo said the people should expect a huge event.

“This event is going to be really big. This would be our first run since how many years and IPI as a local company here in Cebu. We will try to keep up with the big races here,” said Castillo in a press conference yesterday at the IPI Cebu compound.

“This run is very special to us because we are also celebrating our 60th year anniversary as a company. We know for the fact that IPI started in Cebu and it is just right that we celebrate it with the Cebuano people,” said Vice President for Brand Management Division John Rey Villorente.

Race director Joel Juarez, for his part, said they are yet to finalize the venue but he assures that they have prepared a lot of spectacles that will make the run standout from the rest.

“We are still working on the final venue but for the run’s route it will cover some of the popular historical landmarks in Cebu City,” Juarez said.

Over 6,000 runners are expected to join the running event.

Registration will begin on March 1 at the RUNNR Store in Ayala Center Cebu, Toby’s Sports in SM City Cebu, Cebu City Sports Commission office and Parkmall.
