Galarse is CETBA's Bowler of the Year

CEBU, Philippines — Young but promising bowler Joshua Galarse clinched the 2018 Bowler of the Year title of the Cebu Tenpin Bowling Association (CETBA) over the weekend at the SM City Cebu Bowling Center.

 

Galarse subdued CETBA President Eric Bucoy in the final round, 233-195, to take home the coveted Bowler of the Year trophy.

It was smooth-sailing for Galarse going to the finals. He was on fire in the first five-game qualifying round where he knocked down a total of 1, 087 pinfalls to land on the top spot and earn an automatic finals berth.

Bucoy (1,043), on the other hand, had to go through the step-ladder quarterfinals along with Micmic Miranda (1,056) and Ging Francisco (1,036).

Bucoy scored 221 to defeat Miranda (219) and Francisco (212) and barge into the semis where he fended off Beth Ngo, 235-189 , to arrange a championship match with Galarse.

Riding on his momentum, Galarse went  to outlast in the final round with a 38-point margin.

Completing the top 10 finishers  were Nestor Longcayana (1,032), Marvin Sevilla (1,022), Emi Osada (1,020), Tony Calo (1,020) and Noel Tanyu (1,002).
