TCC sustains medal assault

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines —After three days of intense competition, Team Cebu City athletes continue to rake medals in the 2018 PSC Batang Pinoy National Championships here yesterday.

 

TCC now stands with 17 gold, 12 silver and 19 bronze medals.

Dhexia Myles Galo Bersabal handed Cebu City a gold medal after an impressive performance in the 11-12 class of the triathlon event with a time of 25 minutes and 46 seconds. Her teammate Juliana Nicole Loberanis settled for silver with 26:37, clocking.

Cebu City’s futsal squad of coach Glenn Ramos also clinched the gold medal in the boys 13 class with a dominating 15-0 victory over Pasig City.

Loberanis snared another silver medal in the king of the mountain road cycling event, while Catherine Yu grabbed a bronze medal in the girls 14-15 class.

Cebu City’s arnisadors harvested five gold medals through the efforts of Joshua Miguel, Zach Maveerick Canete, Sharmine Faith Lazaga, Jim Lou Suycano and Bernadeth Genobiagon.

In athletics, Jemar Morales and Rex Amamangpang both grabbed a bronze medal via the 1,500m and long jump events, respectively.

Other bronze medalists were Bencynth Ghalil Luage via the 400m individual medley in swimming and Mary Claire Saga in the 48 kgs class of the weightlifting event.

Cebu Province, for its part, got a gold medal courtesy of Marielle Estreba, who topped the girls 13-15 class of the cycling criterium. Nicole Del Rosario also reigned supreme in the king of the mountain class.

Cebu Province’s third gold of the day came from Jeanna Canete who ruled the girls 12-13 class.

Aside from its cyclists, Cebu Province also harvested gold medals in karatedo through Precious Avegail Belicario, Trexie Joy Ogoc and Janine Narboada in the kumite competition.

The Mandaue girls futsal composed of players from Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, Labogon, University of Southern Philippines Foundation and Singapore School also made their presence felt by winning the under-13 title.
