CEBU, Philippines — Gabriel Cometa dropped 17 of his 26 points in the first half as the University of the Visayas (UV) Baby Lancers downed the Active Casino-University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Baby Jaguars, 95-86, in the 2018 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) Partner’s Cup last night at the Cebu Coliseum.

Cometa came out firing right after the opening buzzer, unloading 10 points to vault the Baby Lancers to a flying 26-14 start.

The Baby Jaguars, however, fought back with savvy in the second quarter to trim the deficit down to just seven at halftime, 38-45.

The Baby Lancers, however, regained their offensive bearing in the third canto to further stretch their lead to 15 points, 73-58, entering the final 10-minute zone of the contest.

The Baby Lancers then held firmly on their ground on the way to posting back-to-back wins.

Mar Leandro Actub fired 18 points and Joshua Yerro chipped in 12 markers for the Baby Lancers, who took the solo second spot in the juniors division with a 2-1 slate, just a full game behind the 3-0 Organique California-University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers.

The Baby Jaguars, on the other hand, fumbled for the second time in a row since hurdling their opening assignment against the Mandaue Hotel-University of San Carlos (USC) Baby Warriors. (EBV)
