Spectrum runners to join Bataan ultra race

CEBU, Philippines — Four Spectrum footracers have confirmed their participation in the 2018 Bataan Death March Ultramarathon race that will start today at the Bataan Death March Shrine in Mariveles, Bataan.

The lung-busting race has a 102-kilometer route that will end tomorrow in San Fernando, Pampanga.

Representing Cebu are veteran long-distance runners namely Desiderio Engbino, Bayani Alvarez, Edilberto Batiancilla and Preciousa Sanchez.

All champions of numerous ultramarathons in Cebu, the four will be run together with hundred of participants all over the country.

"This is a dream come true for all of them. This  was a plan that had been brewing for  a long time already, but unfortunately never materialized due to unforseen circumstances. Now, finally, its time. Its time to finally give them a chance to participate in their long-cherished dream," said Spectrum Runners Club president Gerry Mayo.

The Bataan Death March is considered as one of the most popular ultramarathons in the country especially for its historical significance.
