Mother, daughter shine in Toledo duathlon

CEBU, Philippines — Mother and daughter Lucille and Pamela Ruiz dominated their respective divisions in the 2017 Toledo Adik og Dagan (TAD) Off-Road Duathlon yesterday at the Ranch in Toledo City.

Lucille reigned supreme in the 36-above class after clocking in 2:46:23. She outpaced Daisy Batac who settled for second with 2:50:05, while Salve Pabalate landed third with a time of 4:22:39.

Lucille’s daughter Pamela, for her part, topped the 35-under action in two hours, 35 minutes and 42 seconds followed by Alex Ledesma with a time of 2:44:04 as Glee Largo wound up third in 2:11:16.

Other age-group winners were Jonathan Pagaura(29-below), Rolly Cabaluna(30-35), Ronald Guanzon(40-49) and Francis Solatorio(50-above).

In the relay event, the tandem of Dongkie Sanchez and Rhyke Armas (1:53:00) claimed the top spot after beating the duo of Roger Niere and Paul James Zafico (2:00:57).

Fitness guru and The Freeman Sports columnist Alan Choachuy together with his son Alan Carlisle grabbed part of the limelight after winning third place with a time of 2:40:08. (FREEMAN)
