Cebu jins to see action in Korea tikefest

CEBU, Philippines - Two Cebuano jins will be taking part in the 2016 World Taekwondo Hanmadang Championships in Seoul, South Korea on August 3- 7.

They are Nichole Maurin and McAvyngyr Alob, who is now with De La Salle University.

Alob will compete in two events, the creative poomsae and freestyle.

In the creative poomsae, Alob will be competing alongside Lorenz Balcita of FEU and Nitoy Dalida of UST.

In the freestyle action, together with Alob, Balcita and Dalida are  Bella Cecista, Flora Navales, Angelica Gaw and Claire Gascon.

This is the second time for Alob to join the event, with the first one in 2014 where they won gold in the freestyle and silver in the pairs event with Gascon.

Winning in Korea will be a big boost to Alob's bid in the World Poomsae Championships in Peru this September. He will be joined in Peru by his provincemates Rinna Babanto and playing coach Glenn Lava. (FREEMAN)
