Run 4 uR Future supports CCSC grassroots program

CEBU, Philippines - Showing their support to Cebu City Sports Commission’s grassroots program, the organizers of the Run 4 uR Future will give 50 free slots to young Cebuano runners.

The Cebu leg of the nationwide running event will take place on July 31 starting and ending at the Cebu Business Park.

“We want to help in CCSC’s goal in developing young runners so we decided to give 50 free slots for these athletes. They will compete in the 3K and if they will win they can receive cash prize not to mention some freebies from our sponsors,” said race director Joel Juarez in a press conference yesterday at the Captain A’s Seafood Grill.

The other categories featured are the 16K, 10K and 5K.

For her part, Jovy Barangay of  Media Vessel TV and event productions, said the main purpose of the event is to spread awareness to seafarers and OFWs on how to plan for a brighter future when they stop working abroad.

“We want to help them in planning their future early by instilling personal savings as a money-smart way to the future and also they can have quality time with their families,” said Barangay. “Aside from them (OFWs and seafarers), we also want to raise the awareness to self-empowerment for each and every Filipino and to think ahead.”

Over 1,000 runners including students from different maritime schools in Cebu are expected to join the one-of-a-kind footrace.

Registration fee is pegged at P750 for 16K, P650 for 10K, P550 for 5K and P450 for 3K inclusive of race bib, singlet, loot bag and post-race refreshments. Entry forms are available at the Runnr in Ayala Center Cebu, Chrisports in SM City Cebu, Infinitea and Cebu City Sports Center.

Cash prizes and lootbags await the top performers in each category. The 16K and 10K participants will use a timing chip. They will also receive a finisher’s medal and souvenir shirt. (FREEMAN)
