BiG offers Hyundai Accent for hole-in-one

CEBU, Philippines - A Hyundai Accent is on the line for a hole-in-one in the 2016 Business in Golf Tournament, which tees off on June 3 at the par-72 Alta Vista Golf and Country Club in Pardo, Cebu City.

The tournament, which is one of the events lined up for the Cebu Business Month celebration, is an initiative of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Kenneth Tan, Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai Cebu, said that the brand new car is at stake on holes No. 8 and 15.  In case more than one player will score an ace on the designated holes, the car will be equally shared.

This year, the BiG follows a new format.  Each team shall still be composed of four players, but they will be divided into two best ball pairs.

This means that both players per pair will play each hole and the better of the two scores would count for the total.  To get the team score, the scores of the two pairs will be added to determine the team champion.

Ties will be broken based on the following procedure – the score for the last nine holes, if still tied the score for the last six then the last three holes and on to the scores for the 18th to the 17th and so on holes.

Entry fee for the tournament is pegged at P12,000 per team, which already covers the golf cart (one per player), green fees, giveaways, raffles, and dinner.

Prizes at stake will be for the top three teams.

There will also be individual awards for the lowest gross, lowest net, and the Golfer of the Year, which goes to the CCCI representative or alternate, who will score the most points.

The Modified Stableford Scoring System will be used and the June 2016 handicap will be applied.  Players, who are not a member of a club that is part of the Unified National Handicapping System (UNHS) must submit a club certified handicap, which will be subject to a 20 percent deduction.

Players, who cannot submit a handicap certification and are not a member of the UNHS, shall play with zero.

Aside from the car, other hole-in-one prizes that are offered year-round at Alta Vista are a roundtrip ticket to Korea from air Busan on Hole No. 8, a six-night stay at Plantation Bay Resort and Spa on Hole No. 15, and Php 10,000 from Island Paints.

Registration is still ongoing and interested participants, including non-members of the CCCI, may register at Alta Vista Golf and Country Club of the CCCI office.

Only a limited number of slots are still available for the tournament. (FREEMAN)
