Cebuano athletes shine in Alaska Ironkids
CEBU, Philippines - Zurielle Kenzie Galo and Catherine Angeli Yu led the cast of Cebuano triathletes who made waves in the second leg of the Alaska Ironkids yesterday at the Village Sports Club in Parañaque City.
Galo dominated the 6-8 category as she outpaced her rival Franchezka Borlain.
Borlain was leading in the swim part, but Galo caught up in the running event. The latter finished the race in nine minutes and 10 seconds. Borlain and Isobel Tolentino trailed Galo with an identical time of 9:13.
Yu, on the other hand, settled for second place in the 11-12 division behind Jaz Villanueva.
Yu also teamed up with Micah dela Cerna of the Cebu Blue Marlins in the relay event in which they emerged as champion in the 11-14 class.
Galo's cousin Dhexia Myle Bersabal also made it to the top 5 of the 9-10 class, while Justin Yu landed at sixth spot in the boys division.
The rest of the winners were Daniel Louw in the boys 6-8, Michael Gabriel Lozada and Aubrey Tom(9-10), Clifford Pusing(11-12), Joshua Alexander Ramos and Samantha Borlain in the 13-14 class.— (FREEMAN)
