Lee outpaces Kenyan in Forwarder’s Run

CEBU, Philippines – University of Cebu’s Prince Joey Lee defeated Kenyan runner Joseph Mururi to snatch the 6K men’s title of the Forwarder’s Run yesterday at the Cebu Business Park.

Lee topped the action after sprinting it out to the finish line and posted a time of 19 minutes and 29.29 seconds. Mururi trailed behind with his 19:30.14 as Reymark Bautista landed third in 21:45.85.

Abraham Kilimo made sure that he will not suffer Mururi’s fate as he dominated the 12K men’s open with a time of 40:46, followed by Paul Zafico (42:05) and Riez Enriquez (42:55) in second and third place, respectively.

In the distaff side, Ruffa Sorongon was crowned queen in the 12K open with 50:34. Lovely Fe Andrin came out second in 56:11 as Saralee Cuizon placed third with 59:35.

Lovely Fe’s sister Cherry snared the 6K women’s title with 26:32.

In the 3K action, Michael Largo and Lizane Abella won their respective divisions with a time of 7:22 and 9:32, respectively.

Meanwhile, in the Forwarders division, Chad Casinillo reigned supreme in the 3K mens with 8:57 as Hazel Ferolino won the women’s class with 16:36. The 6K titles belonged to Bong Mendrozo (30:31) and Chona Rubi (36:37). (FREEMAN)
